Biographical Statement

Vijay is a technology management professional with three decades of engagement in innovation translation to economic impact creation, intellectual assets management and innovation policy advisory. He combines his academic background in life sciences, strategic management, intellectual property and translational research to provide global corporations and public institutions vision and strategic direction to lead in their chosen spheres of engagement. He has advised leading seed industry players and national research organizations to bring to market pathbreaking genetics and traits in the seed sector.

Current Professional Activities

He has been extensively engaged in 25 countries over the last three decades in advising national governments, private corporations and academic research initiatives to harness the innovation potential and gain through technology transfer and accelerated technology absorption. He is the Chair and Chief Executive of Sathguru, the organization he founded thirty years ago to provide global innovation and strategic advisory services. Vijay is the Regional lead for strategic life sciences research initiatives of Cornell University in Asian developing region. He sits at the Corporate Board level and in Advisory committees of international corporations, public health and nutrition development initiatives and multilateral development organizations. Vijay is the Co-Director of the course.

Teaching Focus

Credit course “Invention and Technology commercialization: Intellectual management for scientists, Engineers and Entrepreneurs in Fall Semester at Cornell University. Co-Director of the Agri Business Executive Education delivered in Summer at Cornell University.

Publications

He co-authored the World Banks’ publication on Biotechnology innovations for inclusive growth and the OECD publication on affordable biotechnology innovations- global experiences.
