MOTHER GIVES GOOD HEALTH AND SANKALP ENSURES GOOD EDUCATION – ROOPASRI
Being a single parent, handling education and health of Roopasri was not an easy task for Venkatamma. Her husband died three years ago leaving two children in her care. Venkatamma works as causal labor and earns Rs. 200 a day. Roopasri is studying class 3 in Hyderabad. She suffers from Hyperthyroid – Thyroiditis, a rare condition among children. She frequently falls ill and takes many days to recover with heavy and expensive medication. Despite her illness, Roopa is good at studies and loves going to school. Venkatamma’s income suffices only for the medicines. Providing for education has become a challenge. While education and health are equally important, as a mother she says “I want to see Roopa enjoy good health rather than going to school. I can’t afford both”. Sankalp is now supporting Roopasri under it’s scholarship program – ‘Sankalp – Siksha’ to continue her education and ease the financial burden of Venkatamma. Sankalp will continue to support her till Roopashri reaches her fullest potential.
