SeedNL, together with the Agricultural Team at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in India,
organized a needs assessment of the seed sector in India. Following the study, several opportunities have been
identified for India-Netherlands collaboration. Stakeholders have expressed the relevance of an India-
Netherlands Seed Secretariat.
This project is part of the Dutch program on horticulture in India that focuses on South and West India. In line
with the objectives of the program, the India-Netherlands Seed Secretariat aims to contribute to strengthening
government-to-government relations in the area of seed sector development. In addition, the Secretariat aims
to explore partnership projects on seed innovations and R&D, enhancing trade and investment in India and
benefitting Indian farmers.
To drive the development and dissemination of high-quality, climate-resilient seed varieties tailored to India's diverse agro-climatic conditions by enhancing Indo-Dutch partnerships in the seed sector
To organise workshops, training programs, and field-level activities to enhance the capacity of the seed sector to meet the needs of farmers, seed producers, and stakeholders in the seed value chain.
To collaborate on research and policy advocacy efforts to improve seed regulation, seed quality standards, and innovation frameworks in India.
To share knowledge, technological advancements, and best practices to improve the overall efficiency of the seed industry in India.
