Know your Portion

An active average-sized person should have 2,200-2,800 calories. Have a healthy balance of food each day: 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 cups of fruit and 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 cups of vegetables. 6-10 ounces of grain (1/2 from whole grains) and 3 cups of non-fat or low-fat dairy foods.

Few ways to plan our meal portion:

  • The size matters - Take small plates and have smaller portions
  • Let veggies be half the portion of the plate
  • Let’s remember to begin our meal with a Vegetable Soup or Salad
  • Let’s eat more soluble fiber
